Wedding Insurance: What does it cover?
Friday, 07 Mar 2008 16:46
A reader from Manchester is getting married and wants to know if wedding insurance is really necessary.
Our team of experts at insurance company
LV=
offers a helping hand.
Sarah form Manchester asks:
I am getting married in the autumn and want to know if wedding insurance is necessary.
A friend mentioned it to me, but I'm not sure what it covers. No-one I know seems to have used it.
Is it a waste of money?
The team at
LV=
responds:
Wedding insurance covers you for things that might go wrong on your big day.
So for example, if you have to cancel or rearrange for any reason (such as a family member falling ill or venue being flooded), plus any problems with your outfit, rings, cake, flowers, photographer and pretty much any other supplier problem you can think of!
Most policies even include stress counselling for the bride and groom and some offer optional cover for marquee damage, if you are having a big bash.
Premiums start from around £60 from a wide range of insurers.
Many insurers (including LV=) increase you and your families home contents cover by ten per cent for the month before and after your wedding to ensure that you are covered if anything untoward happens to your wedding presents.
