Lloyds TSB has released a list of the oddest reasons for requesting a personal loan, which includes people seeking money for suits of armour and ice cream vans.
The list revealed that one hopeful borrower had asked for £15,000 to buy a camel, while another wanted £20,000 to turn a cave into a house.
Personal loans for plastic surgery, by contrast, seem positively normal - but make Lloyds' list nonetheless.
"Most customers come to us to borrow money for more traditional pursuits such as DIY, holidays, or even a used car. But our annual list is a refreshing reminder that Brits still have a healthy dose of eccentricity and ambition," noted Tony Gibbons, director of Lloyds TSB Personal Loans.
