"Our recommend a friend incentive continues to be popular with customers – so we have decided to increase the offer to £50 throughout April [from £25]," said Helen Palmer, current accounts manager at Alliance & Leicester.

"In addition, with our £10 incentive for newly registered mobile banking customers we hope to encourage people to keep a closer eye on their finances with a service that provides up-to-the-minute information and enables better management of their current account."
