NatWest launches 2007 graduate bank account

Tuesday, 29 May 2007 13:57
NatWest bank is launching a new graduate bank account package today for students who have graduated from university within the last three years.

The free package spans six years and includes an interest-free overdraft for three years after graduation that halves each year from £2,000 in the first year to £500 by the third year.

The graduate bank account also offers the option of a three-year interest-free loan if the overdraft is paid off immediately after graduating.

Graduate bank account customers are also offered a specific graduate loan rate currently at 7.9 per cent typical APR for between £1,000 and £15,000, with a four-month repayment holiday option.

New graduates planning to travel also have the option of a NatWest graduate loan where repayment can be deferred for up to 12 months, if full-time employment is secured on their return.

"Graduates face a number of pressures when they leave university, not least trying to find a job, so worrying about paying back student debt should not be an additional burden," commented Mark Worthington, head of NatWest student and graduate banking.

"With graduation comes a new type of extra expense such as relocation, rent and a new work wardrobe, so the NatWest graduate package is designed to support graduates as they make the transition between student and working life, whilst maintaining control of their finances."
