Tuesday, 30 Oct 2007 17:01
American Express is launching a credit card with five per cent cashback.

The Platinum Credit Card is offering cashback for new applicants for three months.

After the first three months, the MoneyBack offer provides 0.5 per cent cash back for spending up to £3,500, one per cent up to £10,000 and 1.5 per cent over £10,000.

The initial offer is open to spending up to £4,000 – providing a maximum of £200 cash back.

The standard rate for purchases for new customers is 18.9 per cent APR variable.

Tom Allder, American Express vice president of UK Lending, said: "We’ve been offering Cashback for coming up to ten years and January 2008 sees the fifth anniversary of the launch of Platinum Credit Card.

"We remain committed to rewarding Cardmembers on an on-going basis for their spending with us and, with this new package, we are re-affirming our number one position as the UK's best cashback provider."
