Insurance for weddings, barmitzvahs and office parties

Friday, 22 Jun 2007 13:25
Insurex Expo-Sure, a division of Hiscox, is offering cover online for small events.

This new insurance is designed for the organisers of private events, including weddings and barmitzvahs, and corporate events up to £50,000 cancellation sum insured in the UK and Europe.

"Moving this product online will help our brokers target small event organisers who recognise the importance of insuring their event but who do not have the time to deal with the paperwork," said Mark Trevor, Insurex Expo-Sure’s managing director.

"The service is simple to use; clients can obtain immediate cover in six easy steps and the policy is emailed directly to them."

The policy covers three main areas of event risk – cancellation and abandonment, property damage and legal liability.

Cover includes:
  • Recovery of expenses if the event is cancelled, abandoned, curtailed or postponed due to a cause beyond an organiser's control. For example, a fire at the venue forces an organiser to switch to another location (costly at short notice).
  • Loss or damage to property at the insured event or during transit, including hired property such as party furniture.
  • Public liability – third party accidental injury or property damage cover.
  • Employers’ liability - for an organiser's own and casual staff.
