Insurance broker JTL Online is launching a new 30 second pet insurance quote service.
The firm is launching Petguard.co.uk – which is designed to add speed and simplicity to gaining an insurance quote by asking owners six questions leading to eight cover options.
Sarah Gow, managing director of Petguard, said: "It is unsurprising, with such limited customer choice and flexibility, that almost two-thirds of cats and dogs remain uninsured.
"Petguard puts the customer firmly in control by giving them the power to match their cover to their pet and their budget.
She added: "There is no reason why the same flexibility customers expect for their home and car insurance shouldn’t be available when insuring their pets. The majority of the pet insurance market delivers a package approach which can result in cover that may be either not necessary or costly."
It is hoped the Petguard tool will help owners get away from a ‘one-size-fits-all’ policy, so they can pick and choose the cover to meet their pet's needs.
"Getting the right policy can really reduce the cost of owning a pet. We do everything to ensure our policy holders are free to choose cover that is exactly right for their pets," Ms Gow said.
The Petguard policies also automatically cover a range of complementary and alternative treatments such as homeopathy, osteopathy, acupuncture, hydrotherapy and chiropractic methods.
