Swiftcover.com hits insurance milestone

Online insurance provider, Swiftcover.com, has announced today it has sold 500,000 live policies.
The milestone has been achieved by the firm, which claims to be the only 100 per cent online insurer, in the three years since its launch in June 2005.
Swiftcover.com attributes the fact it is entirely internet based to its success. It was voted as the cheapest car insurance, on average, by Moneysupermarket.com in 2007.
Stephen Hardy, chief executive of Swiftcover.com, said: "We believe we are ahead of the game in the insurance industry, by creating a model which is entirely internet-based with the ability to provide a quick, easy to use and personalised service for our customers."
The firm said it has achieved year-on-year average growth of 280 per cent. It now has more than 250 employees.
Hardy added: "The results speak for themselves, and we hope to continue this level of growth in the years to come."
