Online insurer Swiftcover.com has launched the UK's first car insurance quote by text service.
Swift Text allows motorists to get an insurance quote direct to their mobile phone in less than five minutes.
The service uses a four-step process - texts are charged at a network's standard rate.
The steps are:
Text SWIFT to 61066
Reply will ask for postcode, number of years no claims discount and date of birth
Text back the above info
Reply asks for car registration number, first name, surname and title
Text back the above info
Reply asks for occupation
Text back occupation
Reply provides quote and quote ID and directs the customer to www.swiftcoverbytext.co.uk where the customer can use their ID to access the quote and buy within minutes.
