National Savings and Investments offers better interest rates

Tuesday, 01 May 2007 17:20
From National Savings and Investments is increasing its three and five year interest rates.

Interest rates on National Savings and Investments' three-year certificates will increase by 0.20% while the five-year certificate has had its interest rate rise 0.25%.

Anyone aged seven or older can save between £100 and £15,000 in each issue of the certificates (a new issue becomes available each time NS& I changes the interest rate on Savings Certificates), and they may be bought for children under seven.

NS&I's inflation-beating savings offer a safe, tax-free home, and an inflation-beating return.

Customers can cash in their certificates whenever they want, but must hold them for at least a year to receive index-linking and extra interest.
