Saga: Dads suffer phone snub

Tuesday, 16 June 2009 12:00

It might be Father's Day on Sunday but Dads will probably be the last people we think of calling, a new survey by Saga has revealed.

The organisation, which is currently promoting its telephone service, found that while the public is making up to five calls to friends and family every day very few of these are to their Dad.

Partners, sons and daughters, mothers and friends were more likely to receive a phone call.

Only three per cent of the population said they regularly called Dad for a chat and none of those surveyed called their grandparents.

Saga said its research revealed people were more likely to call their work colleagues than Grandad or Grandma.

Now it is urging people, as Father's Day looms, to pick up the phone and call their loved ones.

A spokesperson for the firm said: "Saga offers a competitive, reliable telephone service with a choice of tariffs to suit the varied needs of its customers."
