Fuel duty named "most unfair" tax

Fuel duty has topped a poll as the "most unfair" tax levied on the British public.
MSN Money conducted the survey using a Battle system, which asks users to pick their least favoured option from two randomly selected choices.
More than 150,000 votes were registered, with fuel tax edging out council tax as the most unfair charge for households.
Inheritance tax was fourth, followed by road tax, VAT and income tax.
Stamp duty, insurance tax, capital gains tax and airport tax completed the top ten.
Commenting on the figures, MSN Money senior editor Simon Ward said that it was interesting to see that national insurance, which has already become a hot election issue between the main political parties, did not make the list.
"With fuel prices heading for another record high, it's perhaps not surprising that fuel duty was the (un)popular choice as the most unfair tax," he added.
According to Sainsbury's Finance, fuel prices have risen by 10.41% over the past five months, taking the annual cost of filling up to £1,398.
