Public confidence `crumbles` ahead of emergency Budget

Chancellor George Osborne will deliver his first Budget on June 22nd.

Britons have been filled with "deficit dread" ahead of next week's emergency Budget, with 49% of consumers, or around 24 million people, saying they feel worse off financially than ever before.

Fiscal watchdog cuts economic growth forecast

The OBR has said economic growth will hit 2.6 per cent in 2011, down from the previous government's estimate.

Britain's new independent fiscal watchdog has cut the projections for economic growth laid out by the previous government, but it has also said that the deficit will not be as large as predicted.
