Panic Saturday 'to see mobile sales soar'
Friday, 17 December 2010 12:00
So-called Panic Saturday - the last Saturday before Christmas - is set to see sales soar in high street stores and online via mobile phones, according to research.
Experian's PriceGrabber.co.uk service surveyed over 1,000 of its users to see who has gifts still to buy and how they intend to purchase them.
Although last order dates for Christmas delivery may already have passed on some sites, it seems many people still plan to use them to research real-world purchases.
One in ten consumers intend to make use of mobile apps for product comparisons on Panic Saturday, with nine per cent also hoping to find discount codes from retailers on their handset while in the company's bricks-and-mortar high-street store.
Meanwhile, one in five respondents said they plan to use their mobile phone to compare in-store prices with those online to make sure they still get a good deal on the day.
PriceGrabber.co.uk offers comparisons of in-store and online prices from major retailers including Boots and John Lewis.
