Consumer champion Which? has launched a telephone helpline offering information and guidance on personal finance for its members.
The service, which began as a pilot last year, is now running full time with eight advisers, which it says are trained to the same current required standard as FSA regulated independent financial advisers.
Which? said the service had already helped more than 3,000 members with personal finance issues, with queries relating to savings and investments proving the most popular, accounting for 30% and 15% of calls respectively.
The helpline adds to the FSA's 'Money made clear' website, which offers step-by-step guides, comparison tables and an over-the-phone advice service to members of the public.
Which? chief executive Peter Vicary-Smith said: "The difficult financial climate has highlighted the lack of places to go for truly independent, unbiased, free help and guidance on all aspects of personal finance, and we saw a need to fill this gap for our members with our own money helpline."
