Virgin Media is to offer its customers free calls to mobiles from their home phones.

The groundbreaking offer, which will come into effect on April 1st, applies when customers with a Virgin landline phone a Virgin Mobile phone.

This is the first time a provider has offered free calls to mobile phones, and Virgin believes it will save many families 'hundreds' each year.

And the move is set to provide an added incentive for customers to take out 'bundled' packages or 'quadplay' where they subscribe to phone, internet, television and mobile phone services with the provider.

Graeme Oxby, of Virgin Media, said: "Our successful quadplay strategy has demonstrated customers are looking for exceptional value by bundling more services together, and this move to include free calls to mobiles with our home phone service underlines our commitment to ensure Virgin Media customers get the best deals possible."

According to price comparison website, Moneysupermarket.com, 'bundling' with one provider can result in savings of almost £130 a year, compared to buying standalone services.
