Consumers 'more likely to switch football teams than bank accounts'

Britons are more likely to switch their allegiance from the football team they are supporting at the World Cup than change their current account, despite many complaining of poor customer service from banks.
This is according to the Co-operative Financial Services, which found that 31% of people would happily get behind another country if their current team was either knocked out of the tournament in South Africa or did not make it to the finals in the first place.
However, only 29% would be prepared to switch their current account to another provider.
Co-operative Financial Services managing director for retail Rod Bulmber said this is "extraordinary" given the poor customer service that many receive from banks.
According to research from uSwitch.com, 73% of consumers think their current account provider offers poor interest rates and 74% believe they are overcharged.
Elsewhere, the banking industry as a whole came third from bottom in a recent poll by moneysupermarket.com rating 16 sectors for their customer service.
