Consumer Council for Water offers money-saving tips
The Consumer Council for Water has issued money-saving advice in response to rising bills for residents in England and Wales.
Among the suggestions made is installing a water meter, which could save some households as much as £100 per year or more.
Noting that customers can return to unmetered services should they be unhappy with the change, the organisation states that this can be done within the first 12 months of service at any time.
Meanwhile, consumers should find that by making small changes, such as taking showers instead of baths and fixing leaky taps, could reduce their bills.
And energy bills can also be affected by water usage, the body notes - as much of these are used to heat water for baths, washing up and other day-to-day activities.
Thereby, economising water use can also help to lower the amount families spend on energy.
Earlier this month, uSwitch.com revealed that UK energy prices are set to soar by £630 million this year.
