Tax credit renewal date on horizon

Tuesday, 12 April 2011 03:15

The renewal date for Britons who are currently claiming tax credits is set for July 31st.

By this time, anyone who has received a renewal form from HM Revenue & Customs is urged to return their updated information, to make sure they can continue to receive their payments.

In order to fill in the form correctly, claimants are advised to make sure they have all the necessary documentation by their side when doing so.

This can include P60 end-of-year earnings information, pay slips for any other relevant months and records of childcare costs incurred.

Claimants on nil awards need not send any new information in unless their circumstances have changed; this also applies to those receiving the full family element of Child Tax Credit.

The government's Directgov advisory site has further information on renewing tax credits claims, including how to work out what constitutes 'usual' working hours and total income.
