Hotel prices up for royal wedding weekend in London?

Thursday, 21 April 2011 11:57

Hotel prices in London have been found to be 26 per cent more expensive for the nights before and after the royal wedding in comparison to the following weekend.

This is according to research conducted by Santander, which also found a two night stay in a four-star property in central London over the weekend could be as much as 121 per cent more costly.

Director at Santander Cards Ian Coles said: "London is set to be a hot tourist destination on the wedding weekend and with Friday 29th giving us an extra bank holiday, many hotels are basing their prices on supply and demand."

He stated good deals are still available providing consumers allow themselves time to shop around.

The survey backed up his claims as ten per cent of hotels - including one in Marble Arch - were found to be offering lower prices for the royal wedding period.
