Tesco Clubcard offers money off E.ON energy bills

Monday, 09 May 2011 03:46

E.ON and Tesco Clubcard have joined forces to launch a new way for people to pay for their energy bills using vouchers.

Fifty per cent will be added to the face value of any Tesco Clubcard vouchers used to pay for bills, meaning customers will get £15 off their energy bill for every £10 of vouchers exchanged.

E.ON customers are already able to earn Tesco Clubcard points for money spent on energy, and the initiative marks the next stage of the two companies' 13-year partnership.

Thomas Lyon, energy expert at uSwitch.com, said the consumer-friendly scheme is expected to help struggling families to meet their bills, particularly as the average household now spends more than £1,100 on energy.

"If this pilot is successful then we would like to see it extended to cover all of E.ON's tariffs, especially prepayment meter plans and those aimed at more vulnerable customers," he went on to say.
