PruProtect: health insurance premiums cut for the fit

Friday, 14 November 2008 12:00

Prudential is providing policyholders on its PruProtect health plan with the opportunity to reduce premiums by doing more exercise.

PruProtect, a joint venture between Prudential and South African firm Discovery, has announced it is making "enhancements" to its product range.

The potential for annual price increases across PruProtect's life cover, serious illness cover and income protection, has been removed.

And policyholders on the Vitality programme who engage in regular healthy activities are being given the chance to lower their premiums too.

They will earn points by going to the gym or taking part in healthy eating programmes.

Kevin Carr, director of protection development, said: "Our serious illness cover is already the most comprehensive of its kind in the UK.

"As well as becoming more competitive, we are enhancing our proposition for consumers by allowing them to reduce their future premiums and keep them low."
