Post Office Contents Insurance covers manbags

The Post Office is issuing a warning to owners of so-called manbags that they face the growing risk of being a target of theft.

It is urging owners of the blokes' accessory, which have graced the shoulders of such sartorial icons such as Kanye West and David Beckham, to get the bag and items inside insured using its Contents Insurance policy.

Fashion chain Topman reported a 50 per cent boost in the sale of manbags this year, compared to the same time last year.

Now the Post Office fears this also means there are more men out there carrying valuables in their manbags who are left unprotected against "opportunist and fashionable thieves".

Emma Baunach of Post Office home insurance, said: "With men now carrying more expensive personal possessions on them than ever before, they are more at risk from theft.

"It's important men consider this is a serious risk and take steps to protect their possessions by taking out personal possessions cover as part of their contents insurance."

The Post Office Home Contents Insurance covers bags and personal possessions when the owner is way from their home.

It is a simple insurance policy which Baunach said is ideal for covering manbags, plus items such as mobile phones, iPods, laptops and wallets.
