Post Office hikes home insurance cover for Christmas

Tuesday, 02 December 2008 12:00

The Post Office is boosting its home insurance cover by ten per cent this month to safeguard the additional goods purchased over Christmas.

It is one of a number of insurers who are helping customers ensure they are fully protected for the larger number of valuables in their home over the festive period.

The ten per cent increase will automatically apply to all home insurance policies.

Emma Baunach, head of home insurance for the Post Office, said: "At this time of year people often have more valuables in their home than usual.

"Over Christmas you don't want to be worrying about whether or not you have enough cover on your home insurance, so we have made the extra cover automatic to make sure you are protected."

At the same time, the Post Office is also offering £50 cashback to customers buying home insurance in one of its branches.

This applies to anyone taking out a combined Post Office Buildings and Contents policy over the counter until March 31st 2009.
