Female Norwich Union home and car insurance customers choosing to propose on February 29th are set to get help buying rings.

The insurer has linked up with Goldsmiths jewellers to offer a 15 per cent discount on engagement rings on February 29th.

The deal covers all full price gold and jewellery items at Goldsmiths stores for those with home or motor insurance.

To qualify, policy documentation must be shown to Goldsmiths staff before making a purchase, and the discounts do not cover watches, Cartier products or gifts.

The deal follows research by Norwich Union revealing February 29th sees 20 per cent fewer traffic accidents than a standard day.
