Post Office Life Insurance: £30 off fuel bills

Thursday, 08 January 2009 12:00

The Post Office is providing help with winter fuel costs by giving £30 towards gas and electricity bills to life insurance customers.

Anyone taking out its Over-50s Life Cover insurance is able to take advantage of the offer, which is the equivalent to 16 per cent off the average winter fuel bill, according to the Post Office.

It undertook an investigation which revealed that almost half of people aged 50 or over in the UK are worried about how they are going to pay gas and electricity bills during the cold months.

This is being worsened by the fact temperatures are plunging to lows of -10 degrees Celsius at the moment.

Duncan Caesar-Gordon, head of protection at the Post Office, said: "For the over-50s winter can be a really tough time and keeping warm is hard enough without having to worry about paying for gas and electricity.

"Our research shows this is an additional worry for many people, so we have listened to these concerns and want to help ease their financial worries."
