Zurich improves critical illness cover

Wednesday, 19 August 2009 12:00

Zurich has revamped its critical illness cover by reducing premiums in some cases and increasing conditions covered.

Following a review of its Level Protection and Decreasing Mortgage Plan the insurer is cutting guaranteed critical illness premiums where an exclusion is applied for cancer or Multiple Sclerosis.

And it is adding six new critical illness conditions, including open heart surgery and severe lung disease, and enhancing a number of existing definitions.

It means it now covers 38 conditions.

Peter Hamilton, protection management director of Zurich UK Life, said: "We believe that reducing premiums where we exclude cancer or Multiple Sclerosis is a positive change and the right thing to do."

All these changes have been introduced with immediate effect.
