Norwich Union Healthcare: Back Up for back pain

Norwich Union Healthcare is enhancing its corporate insurance policy to provide support for customers suffering from back or neck pain.

Policyholders on its Optimum Private Medical insurance will now be able to access an expert-led support and rehabilitation service called Back Up, which helps people to manage pains in the back and neck.

According to Norwich Union, the ailments are among the leading causes of employee absence.

Employees covered through their company by the Optimum Private Medical insurance policy will be able to call the Back-Up service rather than having to wait to see their GP if they start suffering with pains.

Through Back Up they will speak to a dedicated Case Manager who will conduct an in-depth assessment and offer practical and clinical advice and support. They will also refer the employee for treatment, if required.

In a statement, Norwich Union added: "With the employee's consent, the Case Manager can also work with their line manager to advise how the employee can be helped safely and effectively at work."
