Saga: Halloween home insurance

Saga is reminding over-50s, as Halloween looms, it provides them with up to £500,000 worth of buildings insurance protection, including cover for malicious damage.
It is urging people to check their home insurance cover after research revealed Halloween was one of the worst days of the year for vandalism.
Analysis showed 3.6 million homeowners could face damage caused by over-enthusiastic trick or treaters on October 31st.
And Saga's records showed, last October, there was a 97 per cent increase in claims on home insurance caused by vandalism on Halloween. It paid out in excess of £300,000.
Andrew Goodsell, executive chairman of Saga, said people should take precautions to avoid being a victim on Halloween.
"Taking a few simple steps," he said, "for example moving garden ornaments out of sight could help reduce the likelihood of vandalism.
"We would also urge all homeowners to check their home insurance provides adequate cover should vandals strike."
Saga's home insurance for the over-50s also provides contents cover of up to £50,000 as standard and new for old replacement of items is provided if repair is not feasible.
Policyholders will also receive access to a 24 hour legal helpline and can add legal expenses cover to their policy for an extra cost.
