Aviva unveils new pet insurance plans

Monday, 09 November 2009 12:00

Aviva has launched its own pet insurance which comes in three different packages according to the level of cover each customer requires.

The Silver pet insurance plan covers vets fees, pets taken ill abroad, third party liability, cremation or burial costs and behavioural problems.

Customers opting for the Gold policy will receive everything on offer in the Silver plan along with cover for the costs of recovering stolen or straying pets, kennel fees if the owner is hospitalised and death from illness or accident.

It also provides cover of up to £1,000 in case the policyholder has to cancel a holiday due to their pet being ill.

Upgrade to the Platinum policy and a number of the features of the other packages are available with increased limits.

Wayne Ewing, marketing and product manager at Aviva, said: "If your pet were to fall ill you would naturally want to make sure they had the right care to help them get back to their old self.

"But veterinary bills can run into hundreds of pounds and given the current economic climate no one wants to face a large unexpected bill.

"Having pet insurance gives you peace of mind so that you know that you - and your pet - are protected."
