M&S home insurance helps cover Christmas

M&S Money is promoting its home contents insurance policy as a way of providing peace of mind over the festive period.

The policy provides unlimited cover and the insurer said this meant no matter how valuable any presents and gifts stored in the home were, customers would never be underinsured.

A survey by M&S revealed a third of households had gifts under the Christmas tree days before the big day, yet crime statistics also show an increase in domestic burglary during the winter months.

What's more 20 per cent of people said they were very confident about what was covered by the home contents insurance.

But M&S said this meant many people might be unaware they were exceeding the limits of their cover.

David Wells, M&S head of insurance, said: "Christmas should be a fun time of the year. By making sure you have adequate home insurance you can enjoy festivities in the knowledge the contents of your home are protected should the worst happen."
