Are car keys protected on home insurance or car insurance?
A reader from Birmingham wants to know where she should claim when her car keys are stolen from her home.
Emma Holyer, myfinances.co.uk insurance expert from LV= Insurance, tackles the issue.
Linda from Birmingham asks:
Does house or contents insurance cover me if my car keys are stolen from my house?
Emma replies:
Your home insurance will cover you for the cost of replacing the keys if they are stolen from your home.
However if you wish the change the locks on your car because you are concerned that the thief may attempt to steal your car you should contact your car insurer who will arrange this for you.
The cost of changing of the car locks will not be covered under your home insurance policy.
