Motorist living near Tottenham Hotspur's stadium are the most likely to make a car insurance claim, a survey by Churchill has revealed.

As this year's football season reaches its climax, the insurer has uncovered evidence that motorists living near Premiership football clubs are more likely to make claims on their insurance than anyone else.

It found the likelihood of a of a motorist claiming for a car accident, theft or accidental damage was highest in the White Hart Lane area, which is where Tottenham's ground is located, with a 59 per cent chance.

West Ham's Upton Park proved the next most commonplace to make a claim with a 46 per cent likelihood recorded.

Aston Villa, Manchester United and Arsenal followed close by with 45 per cent, 34 per cent and 27 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the table, Bolton and Wigan were the least likely.

James Murray, a Churchill spokesman and Spurs fan, said its research, based on claims over the last four years, showed people living nearing Premiership football stadiums were more likely to make a claim on their motor insurance.

He said: "This is because, traditionally, football stadiums have been built in inner city areas with high population densities.

"Areas with high population densities are more likely to experience car insurance claims, possibly more so on match days when the areas are so crowded."
