Halifax home insurance puts safety first

Safety is the number one priority for people when choosing a place to live, insurance provider Halifax has revealed.

A survey by the insurer found over a third of Brits considered the safety of a place they were moving to as the main factor in making their choice.

The findings emerged as part of a survey into national pride, and how happy people felt about living in their area of the UK.

While the number one factor which gave Brits a sense of pride about their area was the fact their loved ones lived there, the fact they felt safe came second with 47 per cent of respondents offering this reason.

It has promoted Halifax to highlight the importance of protecting homes, which includes putting in place adequate insurance.

Martyn Foulds, senior claims handler for Halifax home insurance, said: "Not only is safety in an area the top reason for feeling regional pride, it is also top on the priority list for most people when deciding where to live.

"Being able to enjoy your home and surroundings is a hugely important factor, so we urge people taking every step possible to ensure their homes and families are well protected."
