Tesco dental insurance: smiles cheaper
The steep cost of dental treatment is putting women off visiting the dentist, with 45 per cent avoiding treatment, a survey by Tesco has found.
Men are more likely to attend to their oral health, Tesco revealed, with 27 per cent admitting they spent nothing on dental treatment in the last year.
However, the men surveyed also proved to be three times more likely than women to extract their own tooth if they couldn't afford to go to the dentist.
The results have prompted Tesco, which has its own dental insurance package, to promote the policy as a way of help ing to manage the cost of treatment.
Jeremy Sutton, head of Tesco Dental Insurance, said: "Dental treatment can be expensive - in some cases costing £86 for an extraction.
"With cover from just £9.95 a month, Tesco Dental Insurance helps manage the cost and covers for routine NHS and private dental treatment."
