PJ Hayman raises travel insurance age bar

More people are set to benefit from P J Hayman's specialist travel insurance policy for customers with pre-existing medical conditions.

The insurer is ditching the upper age limit on its Free Spirit policy which means older travellers can now take advantage.

Previously the maximum age a person must be to take out the firm's single trip insurance policy was 85. For the annual multi-trip policies the upper age was 79.

And the move comes as P J Hayman has reduced rates for cancer cover by up to eight per cent in a bid to make the Free Spirit policy more accessible and cheaper.

According to Peter Hayman, director of the P J Hayman, many standard travel insurance schemes exclude cover for pre-existing medical conditions or refuse to offer cover for the condition after screening.

But Free Spirit was created to ensure as many people as possible could travel abroad with insurance.

He added: "With these changes to our Free Spirit product, people with pre-existing medical conditions, including physical and mental disabilities, can travel safe in the knowledge that they are covered for their specific conditions."

Features of Free Spirit include online medical screening, instant quotes and cover for medical aids and medications.
