Sainsbury's promotes benefits of car insurance
Sainsbury's is promoting its car insurance policy, which includes 24-hour accident recovery, as it also highlights the dangers of driving whilst using a mobile phone.
Despite the law banning the activity in 2003, research by the insurer reveals one in eight Brits had talked on a non hands-free phone behind the wheel.
The survey also found 11 per cent of motorists had sent text messages whilst driving and more than two thirds had engaged in another potentially dangerous activity while in control of their vehicle.
Ben Tyte, Sainsbury's car insurance manager, said: "We would urge motorists to give driving their full attention and not be tempted to engage in anything that could distract them.
"The possible consequences of not concentrating when on the roads are very serious indeed, not just for the driver but other road users, passengers and pedestrians."
Sainsbury's said its car insurance policy offered an extensive range of cover. The 24-hour accident recover includes a courtesy car, which is supplied when comprehensive cover policyholders use one of Sainsbury's recommended repairers.
It also includes a no claims discount of 70 per cent for those who have not made a claim in the past five years, and this rises to 75 per cent after five years' claim-free driving with Sainsbury's.
New-for-old replacement child car seat cover is also on offer for comprehensive cover customers, as well as support and compensation for policyholders who are victims of a car-jacking or road rage incident.
