A reader has a question about insurance requirements for a qualified hypnotherapist

Emma Banks, our insurance expert from LV, tackles the problem.

Mr Mark Goodsall asks:

I will be qualified to practice as a hypnotherapist by the end of the year but will also require insurance for this. Could you please tell me roughly how much insurance would be because I am finding it very difficult to find a quote.

Emma replies:

The amount you will pay will vary depending on a couple of key factors. The first and most significant is the level of personal liability insurance you require. This covers you against being sued in the event of something going wrong. The other major factor is where you will be doing your hypnotherapy. For example, if you are doing it from your own home you will need insurance cover for your property so that in the event of someone slipped or tripping over, you will have insurance in place if someone makes a claim against you.

With this kind of insurance generally your best bet is to go to a broker who can offer you advice and a quote on your individual circumstances.
