Consumers given winter sports insurance advice

Those planning on taking winter skiing breaks have been urged to ensure their travel insurance offers sufficient cover for themselves and their equipment.

Defaqto has revealed a number of differences in winter sports cover offered by various insurance policies and advised skiers to think about what their travel insurance should provide in order to meet their needs.

"The cost of a skiing holiday and value of equipment will vary considerably. At the same time, however, the type and level of cover provided by different policies also varies widely," said Mike Powell, Defaqto's insight analyst for general insurance.

He added it is important people focus on features rather than just picking the cheapest option.
