Aviva is offering a series of discounts for people who take out a car or home insurance policy with the provider.

Drivers can now get their hands on MOT cover, should their vehicle need repairs or replacement parts at the annual check.

RIAS has launched the product for over 50s, the first of its kind for the market. The insurance offers up to £650 to cover the cost of repairs made at the MOT.

The product will be offered as an optional extra for new and existing RIAS car insurance customers, priced at £39.96 a year, or £3.33 a month.

Cars eligible to join the cover can be a maximum of ten years old, having not done more than 100,000 miles, although once a car is covered the policy can be kept for as long as needed.

Janet Connor, managing director of RIAS, said: "Our new MOT Protection offers our customers a unique benefit - once customers take out the cover, they remain continuously protected against any financial surprises when it comes to their annual MOT for as long as they need, regardless of their car's age or mileage."
