Brits 'will change motoring habits to save money'

Two-thirds of Britons will change their motoring habits in order to reduce their expenditure, a new survey reveals.
Price comparison site moneysupermarket.com asked its users whether rising fuel and insurance prices would influence their next choice of vehicle, with 48 per cent claiming they will opt for a more efficient car.
Some 11 per cent will choose a model that costs less to insure, while eight per cent say they will simply switch to using public transport.
Car insurance expert at moneysupermarket.com Pete Harrison comments: "With prices on the up it is more important than ever drivers ensure they are shopping around for the best deals on insurance - those who do will reap rewards and make their hard-earned cash go further."
Adding that there are a number of steps consumers can take to reduce their premiums, he recommends paying annually rather than monthly to lower costs.
Meanwhile, keeping within speed limits and driving as carefully as possible can also go some way to limiting insurance prices, he says.
And with consumers spending the first 45 days of 2011 working to pay off the interest on their debts - according to unbiased.co.uk - such tips could prove particularly welcome.
