PM's new cat Larry provides pet insurance reminder

Thursday, 17 February 2011 02:35

AA Pet Insurance has issued cat owners with a warning about the potential threat of a rat bite.

This comes following the revelation a new cat - Larry - will be living at 10 Downing Street with the intention of catching rats.

Karen Jakes, head of AA Pet Insurance, stated the feline will need to be on his guard when he's out ratting as a rat bite can form an abcess in a cat's skin, which can be very serious if not treated immediately.

The cost of insuring Larry, as a four-year old neutered rescue cat living in Westminster, is likely to be up to £21 per month.

"Premiums are up to four times higher in city centres than in the country," Ms Jakes said.
