Bank holiday car trips: Top tips for parents

Thursday, 26 May 2011 01:07

Parents across the UK will be preparing for bank holiday trips with the children, so Confused.com has offered advice on keeping them entertained along the way.

The site found just over half of car insurance customers are opting to leave the motor parked up this weekend - staying at home or using alternative forms of transport.

However, those who do choose to drive were advised on a number of ways in which to make the journey more interesting for youngsters.

Counting games featured prominently, with kids being challenged to spot particular colours or types of car, while convincing them an effort to see who can stay quiet for longest was described as the "holy grail for worn-out parents".

Head of car insurance at Confused.com Gareth Kloet commented: "Gadgets such as games consoles and DVD players [can] help time pass more easily, but some families might prefer a more sociable solution."
