Endsleigh warns students to keep their valuables safe at festivals
Students have been warned to take care of their valuables at music festivals this summer.
Research by insurance firm Endsleigh revealed young people will take more than £800 worth of valuables each to festivals this summer, where there is a big risk of theft or loss.
Over a fifth of the students surveyed said they plan to attend a festival this summer, with every one of those saying they will take at least their mobile phone.
Meanwhile, more than a third of those who said they are attending an event will be taking more than their mobile, with 42 per cent travelling with a digital camera and 38 per cent taking jewellery as well.
Leeds and Reading festival were named as the most popular events, with 24 per cent revealing they are heading to one of the two this summer.
V was next most popular with 23 per cent claiming they were going, while a fifth travelled to Glastonbury last month.
Vicki O'Connell, Endsleigh communications manager, said: "It's important to remember that with any festival, big or small, there is a risk of loss or theft. Although students will be travelling light, it all adds up, and their festival necessities will be expensive to replace.
"Therefore it's important for festival goers to be just aware of their personal safety as they are line up."
