Car insurance premium drop "irrelevant"
A fall in car insurance premiums of £2 is "irrelevant" to most drivers, according to Gocompare.com.
Commenting on recent AA figures which showed a 0.3 per cent drop in the average premium over the last three months from £923 to £921, the comparison site's head of car insurance Scott Kelly warned the trend will not make a difference to the majority of motorists.
"While the small drop in average car insurance premiums in the last quarter indicated by the AA's latest Insurance Premium Index is welcome news, it is likely to be irrelevant for drivers facing renewals in the next few weeks," he said.
"Anyone renewing now is likely to see a double-digit increase since they took out the policy a year ago, so any drivers who are expecting to see their premiums come down or even stay the same are almost certainly going to be disappointed."
Mr Kelly went on to urge all drivers up for renewal to shop around for the best available deals, as large savings can be made.
