Tesco boosts home insurance cover for Christmas

Tesco customers may be reassured to know that their home insurance cover will be automatically boosted over Christmas.

The financial services provider said it is aware that people will have gifts, extra food and beverages in their properties over the festive season, meaning the value of their contents will be considerably more than usual.

Consequently, it will apply a 20 per cent uplift to its Tesco Finest buildings and contents insurance and a ten per cent increase to its Tesco Standard buildings and contents cover so everything is protected in the event of fire, flood or theft.

This cover also applies to other religious festivals throughout the year.

Tesco Bank was established in 1997 and is the UK's largest supermarket bank with more than 6.5 customer accounts.

Last month, the Post Office also announced a ten per cent increase in home contents insurance over the festive season to protect its customers' belongings.
