Comparison site Confused.com has revealed that it is teaming up with Nectar for a new promotion.

Until March 31st 2012, people who but car insurance through Confused.com will receive 1,000 Nectar points to add to their loyalty cards.

A new television advert will begin airing on December 23rd 2011 featuring animated character Cara and details about the new initiative.

"The promotion with Nectar offers our customers an added reward when they choose to buy cheaper car insurance with Confused.com," said the website's Mike Hoban.

Nectar is the UK's largest loyalty scheme and has 18.5 million cardholders, while Confused.com was established in 2002 and generates more than a million quotes a month.

According to Sainsbury's, 200,000 more shoppers have redeemed Nectar points so far in 2011 than in the whole of 2010.

It is predicted that three million people plan to use their accumulated points to cover the cost of Christmas dinner as household finances are squeezed.
