Sainsbury’s unveils new home insurance deals for shoppers

Tuesday, 14 February 2012 08:53

Sainsbury’s has launched two home insurance packages designed to help consumers not only save on their policy, but also on their shopping and petrol.

Shoppers with a Nectar card will receive a discount of up to 15 per cent on standard premiums, while customers taking out premier cover will earn two years of double Nectar points at Sainsbury’s checkouts and petrol pumps.

For a customer regularly spending £100 a week, the value of the Nectar points would be £104 a year, which is equivalent to 49 per cent of the average combined building and contents home insurance premium, the insurer said.

In addition, customers signing up between now and June 4 2012 can get 12 months’ cover for the price of nine on Sainsbury’s buildings, contents and combined buildings and contents insurance.

Meanwhile, new home insurance customers can obtain a 20 per cent discount if they buy online.

Ben Tyte, head of Sainsbury’s home insurance, said: “In these difficult times, we’re delighted to be able to offer the Sainsbury’s shopper a very attractive discount on their home insurance premiums and the ability to save money on their shopping in store and also on their fuel.”
