A reader from Leicester wants to know when he contact pension providers for annuity quotes.

Andrew Norton, Halifax investments expert, tackles the problem.

Carl from Leicester asks:

When should I get my annuity quotes? I am 63 and have five private pension plans, two of which offer guaranteed annuities.

When should I contact various pension providers to get annuity quotes?

Andrew replies

The providers of your plan should contact you a few months before the selected retirement age of the plans.

This is of course dependent on you keeping your providers updated as to any changes of addresses you have had over the years.

If you wish you can contact your providers in advance to check their policy on issuing documentation as members approach retirement or update them on any change of address.

You need to have your situation fully analysed by a qualified adviser who is able to provide a suitable response so that you can make an informed decision.
