The FTSE 100 dropped further today - losing 1.12 per cent.

Government to strengthen consumer protection

Alistair Darling has announced new proposals to protect consumers

The government plans to strengthen consumer rights and offer free financial advice as part of an overhaul of the financial system.

FTSE 100 continues down to 4,175.06

FTSE 100 falls further to 4,175.06

The FTSE 100 continued its downward trend on opening, falling 0.29 per cent to 4,175.06 by 08:30 BST as renewed fears over the economy sent stocks lower.
